Review by Byron Coley of the Secret Songs 7" in The Wire magazine. |

Not that many Scottish groups release lathe cut singles on Australian labels, but among the select elite who apparently do are National Park. Secret songs/No More Rides (Steady Cam BFREQ002 7") is an extremely pleasant effort in a stripped down Galaxie 500/Yo La Tengo direction, manifesting the textural quietude of third album Velvet Underground without sounding exactly like anything else. Sparse, tingly and open, it breathes like a well behaved cactus. October 2003 |
